At the last Streetscape meeting the residents of Lemay said they would rather have the money go to help pay the salaries of teachers, police, and firefighters than pay for this "redevelopment" plan. The people said they didn't want ANY of this! My daughter lives in the area they want to plow down and replace with mixed use buildings. Her home may not be new, but at least my grandson has a yard to play in....they will lose their home if the County carries out this plan. Their plans to plant trees in front of the sewers is going to create a situation of constant damage to our sidewalks and sewers due to tree roots. I can see why they had to have a SECRET ground breaking ceremony...because the people don't want it and they don't want their tax dollars going to it.
