What's the Speed Limit in Your Subdivision?

The Ellisville City Council approved unanimously on Wednesday the reduction of the speed limit on all streets in the Kerrytown Place Subdivision. The speed limit will be reduced from 25 mph to 20 mph on Kerryton Place Drive and Kerryton Place Circle.

The reduction was done because the speed limit on the other residential subdivision streets in the city is also 20 mph.

  1. I wonder if anyone asked to see the requisite engineering study that must be performed before a speed limit sign can be erected or modified. Federal (and state) law requires that the numeric on the sign be the 85th percentile speed of unrestricted traffic, rounded up to the nearest 5-mile increment. It sounds like this sign is in violation of the law.

Next will be the speed cameras to help pay for the new signs.
