Recent COMMENTS Worth Repeating

(Our apologies on the format. We gave up with the copy & paste bit and ended up with this layout. All of these COMMENTS now show under the specific article indicated)

>  Are these vehicles any less of an eyesore if they're parked on a concrete pad rather than grass? And does the county realize how almost unenforceable trust indentures are? Why are we paying taxes if the County refuses to do its duty? on County Not Enforcing Vehicles from Parking in Yards; Resident Complaints Being Ignored

I understand that the primary purpose of your department is “to identify and eliminate public health and life safety hazards in our community.” However, you also have a responsibility to address the property maintenance issues that are brought to your attention, as well as on your own accord, in an effort to maintain and preserve the aging housing stock in St. Louis County. I have attended a lot of St. Louis County meetings and have heard county officials talk about addressing neighborhood preservation issues to maintain neighborhoods, but you’re trying to tell me the focus is something else. Is “Neighborhood Preservation” part of your department’s name and focus or not? If it is, then own up to the name and do the job that your department is supposed to do! The trustee directors and involved residents in some parts of unincorporated St. Louis County already have enough problems trying to maintain their areas without having to continue to fight with some St. Louis County on County Not Enforcing Vehicles from Parking in Yards; Resident Complaints Being Ignored

Quit turning everything into a crime! Discouraging something is not the same as making something illegal! Bureaucrates won't be happy until they completely control every action people make. They are set on turning everyone into a criminal. on Don't Feed the Deer, Skunks, Racoons, and Others

When all this was enacted the reasoning was to save the streets of the subdivision. Allied Waste only picks up on side and then come back down to do the other side. That's a large truck driving twice on one street. How is that saving our streets? Someone's pocked was lined. Our previous trash hauler was wonderful. You only had to pay for the months that you wanted yard waste. Allied makes you pay for 3 months whether you want 1 or only 2 months of yard waste pickup. Why do I have to pay for the months that I won't use yard waste pickup. on Homeowners Assoc. Complains About Trash Hauler

No offense to the many, hopefully majority, of decent, conscientious, and capable trustees out there but, this writer hit it right on the head in saying that "no one else wanted to do it". This is the case all too often which a lot of us have personally experienced. The counties impose these associations on us but don't want to be bothered supervising them or providing training and oversight of trustees and their activities. Counties want the tax revenue generated by subdivisions but don't want the responsibility. To believe otherwise would be to believe that developers and builders are so altruistic that they will voluntarily give up land that they could build on and profit from to be used as common ground. When will we demand that they use the revenue that subdivisions generate to maintain streets, streetlights, etc. on Trustee No More: The Saga of a Recluctant Volunteer
