The trustees of Dietrich Place Homeowners Association in unincorporated west St. Louis County are complaining that their trash hauler makes as big a mess as it hauls away.
John Rorris, the group's president, recently wrote to St. Louis County Councilwoman Colleen Wasinger, R-Town and Country, about trucks used by the private street's hauler, IESI.
“IESI's trucks … drip oil and grease on our concrete streets,” Rorris stated.
He also said that trash frequently blows out of the bucket on the front of the truck.
“We...request that either you replace our current trash service or we be allowed to negotiate for another,” Rorris wrote.
Dietrich Place Court is private and the residents of its 17 villas are responsible for its maintenance.
Rorris stated that his group had met with IESI's operations manager, Jim Sontag, about the problem.
“(Sontag) is a fine fellow who is very gracious and kind,” Rorris wrote. “He always agrees to clean up the mess but we are called upon to do all the monitoring and initiation of communication for cleaning up the street.”

Is this anexample of Uncle Charlie's vast improvement in trash service? Or is it just another example of his half vast way of doing his job?
ReplyDeleteWe lived in Oakville when trash districts began. On the first day of the "service", also by IESI, we got a curbside trash delivery. They emptied our can and were kind enough to leave a big green bag full of someone else's trash in the gutter in front of our house.
ReplyDeleteWhen all this was enacted the reasoning was to save the streets of the subdivision. Allied Waste only picks up on side and then come back down to do the other side. That's a large truck driving twice on one street. How is that saving our streets? Someone's pocked was lined. Our previous trash hauler was wonderful. You only had to pay for the months that you wanted yard waste. Allied makes you pay for 3 months whether you want 1 or only 2 months of yard waste pickup. Why do I have to pay for the months that I won't use yard waste pickup.
