A committee of the Saint Louis County Council will hold a meeting at 4:00 PM April 22 to hear comments on a bill that would eliminate the county’s authority to establish trash collection districts in the unincorporated areas of the County.
The committee of the whole will consider the issue in the council chambers in the county administration building in Clayton.
Councilman John Campisi, sponsor of the bill, was in Jefferson City on Tuesday (4/8) to testify before a House on a bill designed to prohibit the county from establishing the districts.
Campisi was with a contingent from his district making a last ditch effort to stop the districts. Tony Niskanen, who is leading an initiative that would invalidate the district’s, said the county would sign contracts for the trash districts by summer, before voters can decide the issue in November.

There is no way, that Charlie Dooley and the Democratically controlled council is going to allow Campisi's bill to move forward.
ReplyDeleteThis entire issue is political, and not bi-partisan.
It will take a law suite and a court battle to correct it.
