Campisi Bill To Modify Trash Program Defeated

A bill to eliminate the trash districts and mandatory recycling and minimum level of services was defeated by the Council Council on April 22. The bill was submitted by Councilman, John Campisi, and defeated by a vote of 4 to 3.

Campisi introduced Substitute Bill 1 to Bill 42, on April 15, 2008. This legislation would allow homeowners to again make your own choices.

Chairwoman, Kathleen Burkett, voted against the bill saying she was supporting her constituents in her district. Ms. Burkett represents 16, 632 residents while Campisi represents over 51,874 in his districts. Fair? It's called "politics."

Ms. Burkett only represents a small portion of un-incorprated areas of St. Louis County. Most of her area overlays incorporated cities. Mr. Campisis and Mr. Omara have the largest areas of un-incorporated. Mr. Omara conveniently missed the meeting, he could have made a difference.
