Rental Property in Subdivisions - Good or Bad?

A frequent question some subdivision residents ask is if an owner can use their home as "rental property." This poses questions - and sometimes problems - to subdivision trustees. The biggest argument against rental property is that renters often do not take care of the property as well as the owner. Most people find it difficult to really think of a rental as a permanent residence or "home."

What are your thoughts?

We're looking for subdivisions who have wording in their protective covenants that address this situation. If you have such wording that either prohibits or allows rental property, will you please send a copy to us at: subtrustees@swbell.net.
