St. Louis County in the third year of a hiring and pay freeze, Mike Temporiti landed a $70,000 county job.
Temporiti, 27, is now the county's abatement compliance officer. It's a brand new job, created just for him in the Revenue Department. His salary is the ninth highest of the 237 employees in the department.
The job was never posted, and Temporiti did not have to interview for it.
He is a lawyer and the son of John Temporiti, who is County Executive Charlie A. Dooley's longtime campaign treasurer and manager and former chief of staff.

"That would be bad enough, but Paul Hampel, the reporter who dug this up, had to throw in the fact that six years ago, when Temporiti was your chief of staff, you invented a part-time job for a Temporiti daughter-in-law in which she makes about $30,000 a year and shows up at a ranger station once a week."

If we think this is just on a small town level we are crazy. Why do you think we have lobbyist? Why is it ok for companies, unions, and individuals to fund our judge’s campaigns and our politician's campaigns? We must be actually stupid to allow this kind of system. In America we are bought and sold.... I seriously wish we wouldn't be so divided and stand up united to fight this ignorance.

While we're at it, Dooley needs to be PERSONALLY held financially responsible for the trash district fines and costs. He needs to PERSONALLY reimburse the taxpayers the millions!

Dooley long ago sold his profound decency and sound decision making ability to the highest bidder, and has simply become just another easily swayed and bought politician always up for resale to the highest bidder. Temporiti comes from an astounding history of political favor mongering and crooked abuse of the system. Now Chuck Dooley can be added to this list thanks to Bill McClellan stepping up and out! This is a little out of character for Bill, but I guess the abuses by Dooley have become just too much to bear. Good job Bill!!! Prepare yourself for the onslaught of racist accusations, hateful personal barbs, threatening remarks in private, and the ever present danger of receiving donations to assist you in altering your opinion and publishing it. To Dooley I ask if there are any more openings north of $60K/yr. that require staying home. And to Temporiti I can say only six things; nah-nah, nah-nah, nahhhh-nah!

While it is impossible to shame the people, ("oh McClellan doesn't approve, ha ha, who cares, we get the money,"), the one good thing that happened in this deal is that St. Louisa’s got the chance to see what journalism used to be like. Wow. What a thrill to see it in today's world. This guy, Hamper just nailed them six ways from Sunday. I wish he would have been on this beat before the election, maybe if he had, Bill Corrigan wouldn't have hired this kid. But, this is our system. I went to the Corrigan/Dooley debate and sat next to a lady who was there with her kid about 14. He didn't want to be there. He was fidgeting with his phone. Not paying attention. Finally, the woman elbows him in the ribs and says, "hey, when Charlie speaks, you cheer and cheer loud, get it? If Charlie loses, mommy loses her job."

Section 9.040. Petitions demanding the recall of any county elective officer shall be signed by registered voters in the county or the council district, as the case may be, equal in number to at least twenty percent of the total vote cast for governor therein at the last election at which a governor was chosen. 547,555 voted for a governor in the last election. Come on folks all we need is 109,511 registered voters to sign the recall petition and we can put it to a vote. WE CAN DO IT!

Dooley has frozen County Employee wages for 4 years now. Both merit and cost of living, while at the same time raising the cost of the health plans. Every department's budget has been cut or frozen, but it’s nice to know threes always room for his buddies and family to be appointed a nice job. Don't say 'we deserve him' Half of the county did not vote for him. How people can be fooled by this idiot Northwood’s figurehead is beyond me. Like he said in his acceptance speech, he wants to thank his supporters, "Pacify the ones from North County."

I feel that Dooley and his buddies do not care about what you, or any other reporter, writes. They are above public opinion. They are 'in' now for three plus more years, and this storm too shall pass is their thinking. I do not think Charlie Dooley is arrogant, but, I do think his buddies in the 'bidness' are. Hey, they are taking what they can while they can. Remember, we all had a choice last November, this is what the majority picked.

According to the dictionary the word “abate” means “reduce in amount ,or lessen”. The younger Temporiti, with help from daddy, is certainly doing that to the county’s budget. Boy is he qualified or what! However, you wouldn’t think that reduction in the Revenue department would be terribly desirable, especially in bad economic times.
ReplyDeleteTemporiti is so proud of his family for taking public service jobs rather than more lucrative private sector jobs. $70,000 per year to start sounds pretty lucrative. My wife and I combined never made that much. And $30,000 per year for showing up once a week. If that ain’t lucrative what is? Temporiti is a glaring example of just how redundant the term “criminal lawyer” really is.
The dictionary also says that the word “abate” in the law means “to make void”. Isn’t it time to make Temporiti and his puppet Dooley void?
Maybe Don Temporiti can get his godson the part in the new war movie Woltz International Pictures is making. I hear that getting the part involves having a way with horses.
