A suburban St. Louis town is turning over police duties to St. Louis County. The Jennings City Council voted 6-1 Monday to contract with the county for police service. The contract begins March 12.
One member of the council, Yolanda Fountain-Henderson, abstained in the vote. She filed a lawsuit last month in an effort to block the contract.
Jennings' former police chief retired in November amid an investigation into possible misuse of funds.

Good for Jennings. Wise move.
ReplyDeleteSt. Louis County has the resources for a good police department. Most small communities should do the same thing.
Again, I think all small communities under 5000 population should be aborbed by larger contiguous communities for back to St. Louis County. More than a third of the small communities are under 5000 population.
