County Residents & County Leaders Continue at Odds Over Trash Program

To date, the four lawsuits that have been filed against St. Louis County’s controversial trash districting program continue to meander their way through the state judicial system in quest of a final resolution to this hotly contested issue.

A motion hearing for summary judgment in the second lawsuit is scheduled for this Wednesday, June 16 at 8:30 a.m. in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County. That case was filed in August of 2008 by two residents and a trash hauler (Buchanan et al. v. St. Louis County) and is often referred to as the “right to vote” case.

The attorneys for the plaintiffs, Robert Schultz and Lester Stuckmeyer, request the attendance of as many interested St. Louis County residents as possible to fill the court room and show support for the plaintiffs and their cause. If you are able and plan to attend, please call Cathy Armbruster at 544-0298 to advise that you will be in attendance. Please see the newspaper ad below for all of the pertinent details.

If St. Louis County would step up and resolve this issue, everyone could benefit.
The county should add the fee to the property tax and pay the vendor directly.
This would ensure that everyone has service, all the time.
It would lower the overall fee because payment would be gauranteed and service would not be interupted.
It would resolve the issue of low income families not having service, it would spread the cost and reduce the exposure.
St. Louis county started this, now they should end it, and make it right.

The city of Maryland Heights pays for their residents trash service from Casino Fees.
Why doesn't the county impose fees on all the casino's to pay for trash fees.
