Kinloch, The Saddest City In St. Louis County

A Video Tour of Kinloch, The Saddest City In St. Louis County
By Keegan Hamilton, Tuesday, Mar. 23, 2010

If you missed the post detailing the troubles of Kinloch Fire Protection District and their beef with St. Louis County and the developers at NorthPark, click here to check it out on video. Very sad.

The story touches on the astonishing level of urban decay Kinloch, the poorest of the 91 municipalities in St. Louis County. But in order to truly appreciate the crumbling city you have to visit.

We did just that so you wouldn't have to (thank us later) and filmed the windshield tour we received from Darran Kelly, Chief of the Kinloch Fire Protection District and a Kinloch native.

Behold the tiny town that makes East St. Louis look like a thriving metropolis by comparison:

In this time of dropping revenues, high unemployment, urban decay, and all the other problems.......it is time to fully consider Muni Consolidation and retraction. Of the 91 muni governments, and dozens of overlaying taxing districts, such as ambulance, fire, etc, and St. Louis County government, it is time to retract, consolodate and compress.
We need less duplication of efforts, we need less government, we need less confusion.
St. Louis County government is so bad, let it collapse into 20 to 25 large muni's and only as as a service bureau to that group of muni's
St. Louis, St. Louis County and the surrounding muni's are imploding. Stop the madness.
