St. Louis County Places Trash Contract Out for Bid

Officials of St. Louis County announced the bidding process with trash haulers to provide service in a collection district in North and West County. The bids will be opened on March 20 with trash services to begin July 1.

The County has been divided into eight trash districts. The pilot district includes areas of Maryland Heights, Overland, Creve Coeur, Chesterfield, and the West Overland area. The district includes several small areas to include Elmwood Park and Carsonville.

The county recently sent bid packages to 23 haulers and three trade groups.

The hauler must collect trash and recyclables once a week and bulky waste twice a year. Optional services must include a second trash pickup a week, and collection of yard wastes, appliances and additional bulky items.

The county said it will award the contract to “the lowest responsible bidder.” Haulers must specify a price for regular and optional services. Haulers must offer a 10 percent discount on regular service to senior citizens over age 65.
